Hi,
I'm using a BlackMagid Studio capture card to capture VHS to the HDD.. We're capturing to DPX files, and it looks like it's working great.

Bur sometimes I get dropped frames..
The HDd is fast enough (140MB/s R/W), and the HW should be good too. (Xeon CPU, 8GB ram..).

The VCR device is brand new, and playback works great.

Last time I tried this is the result:
I did 65 000 frames before I stopped it.

First 45 000 frames was good, with no dropped frames (about 30min). But then, over the next 20 000 frames I got 3500 frames dropped, at random. Often more than one in a row.

Anoyone got any ideas on what this could be?
I've watched the tape, and it looks good where it drops, and it doesn't drop at the same time every time.... So it's random for now.

I can live with a couple frames dropped per hour, but 3500 in 25 000 is way too much..

WIndows 7 64-bit Professional
LG DVD/VHS player
BlackMagic Design Studio capture card
WD 1,5TB S-ATA HDD (120Mb/s R/W)

Capturing using Media Express from Blackmagic.
Saving as 10-Bit DPX Sequence files.

Random example of results:
65 000 frames (test 1)
First 45 000 = Great. No dropped/skipped frames
Next 20 000 = Bad. Dropped/Skipped 3 500 frames.

Ideally you want this PC to be off the net, so that you can disable the firewall and anti-virus programs.

Disable any other unwanted background tasks.
