What's the latest & greatest way to convert 8mm analog files to digital format on a PC and then create DVDs. I've read that it's best to use a camcorder that will convert the analog to digital, then transfer to PC by firewire for best quality. Is it better to use a 8mm player or converter to transfer rather than a camcorder? I've read that firewire transfer gives better video conversion quality over USB transfer. What DVD editing software (features) & video card (memory, inputs, etc) should I be looking for? In Advance, Thank You, Harry

Welcome to eCoustics Harry!

If you are able to play your 8mm with your camcorder, buy a cheap PC PVR card to convert the analogic to digital then you simply copy the file on a DVD, the Firewire wil not give a better quality than a S-Video input.

If you camcorder has Firewire output, it is the preferred way to transfer video to a PC.
