We are switching from Dish Network to Direct TV next week.

We currently have a Dishnetwork ViP 722 DVR with several programs recorded on it.

It has a USB port on the front.

Is there anyway to setup an external hard drive to it or hook it up to our computer to retrieve the recordings and save them. Can I hook it up to my computer and have it work like any other USB port item like jump drives and external hard drives where it would have a directory to read and copy?

Then is there anyway to download them to the new receiver we will be getting from Direct TV?

If I need to just save them to a hard drive and watch them on computer that would be ok as well.

I'm sure I have left out some info needed to answer this completely but any help would be appreciated.

You might want to read http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=122577

Does the back of the DVR have video+audio outputs (yellow, red, white connectors) ?
