Hello all.
I am new to all of this and i'm going crazy trying to get started with FTA and how it works on DN encrypted channels.

whats a really good receiver to start off with the least hassle ?

I have a SUPER DISH (oval) do i need to change my dish ?

when the receiver gets zapped how easy is it to get it on again ?

do receivers come right out of the box ready to use or do i have to download something to it?

Any help will be wonderful. i am brand new to all this and have no idea where to start.

heres where U start...ago to another site...u pick one of these..

www.southcoastfta.com is a good start and easy good receiver..

Your dish is fine

U will have to upload a new file and make some receiver settings adjustments with your remote, after you get it out of the box...should take u about 30 minutes.....BUT U should read for about 8 hours at least before U start..

U will need to go up on the roof and look at your dish , and switches and write all the info down and save it..

All FTA receiver come ready to reun Free to Air Channels. Many people want to run additional channels and downloads extra files call BINs and get extra channels.
When you have bought a receiver, you should join a forum which has files on the site.

I suggest that a Sonicview 4000 is a good buy.

NALIN YOU ARE NOT MAKING ANY POINT. THE GUY IS NOT ASKING YOU FOR FREE TO AIR. HE IS ASKING TO OPEN DN . SO NO NEED TO FALLOW LK IN EVERY FU8CKING SINGLE POST HE MAKES. HIS ANSWER WAS TOO CLEAR THAN YOURS. NALIN YOU WILL GET THE GUY CONFUSED.

I think you will find either Viewsat ultra and Sonicview 4000 better and equal to each other in many ways.
The USB drive input in these receivers (for upgrades), is the big plus in these receivers.

Its a small portable "drive" that holds files and allows U to download or upload to and from it..its the size of a cigarette lighter, and plugs into your USB port in your computer and IF ya buy a USB ready receiver , it has a USB port in that too....so no need to have receiver next to computer, or connect/disconnect cables and carry receiver into another room where computer may be, every time U need to upload new files to the receiver.....it cost about $15 at any store, including Walmart!

Its (USB capable) a "MUST HAVE" nowadays when buying a FTA receiver..

I have been using CW600s P with good results 4 > than 1 yr. Recently I added one more of the same. I think the price differential is like 65+ 4 cw600p and 125 for cw800. Don't think usb is a big deal. Functionalities are same as LK said.

mike g harris: You will not need to change anything except:
Use the DN receiver (as long as it turns on) to power the LNBs and the switch(es) if any and use another port output for connecting to your FTA receiver.
