You need to buy a USB to Serial adapter. They sell them in most radioshacks and bestbuys but if your computer is running windows vista I suggest that you buy the Keyspan brand, it's the only one that works with vista.

No prob. Like I said, if you have vista on your comp DON'T BUY THE CABLE AT RADIOSHACK OR BESTBUY, buy it on ebay, amazon, or keyspan. com. Keyspan provides the vista drivers for the adapter.

First things first. Are you sure you're not running vista? If you are not running vista, download the drivers pertaining to whatever you're running on your computer and install the software and follow the instructions.

Pansat 2500/FLU take a straight through RS232 signal (Pin 2 & 3 to Pin 2 & 3 unaltered)
Pansat 2700 and Viewsat Ultra take Null Modem RS232 cable (Pin 2 to 3 and pin 3 to 2)
**-- **-- **-- **-- **-- **-- **--
USB to serial convertors are notorious for problems and for slowness.
Buy only the type with its own installation CD.
Do not allow windows XP to install it.
Manually install using CD
Select COM1, or COM2, or COM3 or COM 4 port.
Use device manager in your computer to check and select the right port.

If you are not sure what DB9 F/F cable you have, it is a good idea to buy a DB9 M/F null adaptor or short cable.
With the null adaptor in you get one type and with it not in, you get the other type of signaling.
