guys, a friend gave me his vs2000 ultra to fix,it has no remote,but i want to try and factory flash it,any ideas,also what loader do i use,because i want to use a cable and not usb. the unit looks like dead right now,but would be good to get it back to life
Stephane how do i do that, by the way i am not stupid,but i have never worked with viewsat boxes,i was c00lsat guy.just trashed my dead c00lsat,and promise never to buy another one,because i found out door stoppers are $ 1.25 at home depot ,so why spend $ 189 for the same sh!t help me out here with viewsat
I have a vs extreme the last few files that i uploaded have not worked. all it does is autoroll the preview channels come in right away but all other channels are blacked out and just rolling. I did a factory reset and reloaded the factory bin then loaded the latest file still not working. others are using the same file with no problems. Any ideas would be great
get it at any site you trust..it's clearly indicated as ultra fail fix....all websites have it. live, ftatalk etc you have to get the loader 2 as well. plug box in,turn box off via switch. plug the cable. start the loader 2 software. press open file. choose the main.pgm. from the ultra fail fix zip, the press the pc to stb. turn rec'er on...it should go from there.

How to bring back your Ultra from the Dead >moved, Clyde<
This is basically a n00b proof guide on how to bring back your Ultra from the dead. I basically had this problem and through some research and help from you guys i was able to accomplish it. So here is how it goes.
First off don't panic and think calmly. There are some things you are going to need. And these are : Software, Cables and the ability to follow instructions.
Software: -Latest factory file. You can find this either in the VS Ultra files menu on this site or by going to viewsatUSA.com (I used 1.31) -Loader program (I used VS loader), instructions on how to use the program are included when you download. -The latest fix, as in the .pgm file you normally download.
Cables: -Null Serial Modem cable (usually included in the box) *Note* If you don't have a serial port on your computer (problem with most new computers) you can purchase a serial to usb cable from bestbuy. I used the Dynex one, there were no drivers included so your stuck getting it from dynexproducts.com Very important to know what com port the serial cable is on. Making sure that the cable is plugged in, go to control panel > system > hardware > hardware manager and look for the "COM" tab, and it should be listed there.
-Follow any instructions included very carefully as you will be writing to flash memory, and trust me you don't want to screw up there.
Procedure: 1) Unplug your sat box and hook it up to your computer via serial cable. 2)Load the latest factory file through Loader. *THIS HAS TO BE DONE ON YOUR COMPUTER FIRST!* 3)Either unplug from computer and go back to tv and load latest fix via usb, or load latest fix through Loader. 4) Complete
Closing Notes: Although this may seem simple enough, i cannot stress the fact of doing everything properly. Any slip up could cost you your box. Always let the install complete and wait till the sat box turns off, comes on again and says "End". If you interrupt power at anytime through the install you could be in trouble again.

i tried everything,it just says resending ,and every time i switch the receiver on it has different kind of lights.i guess i have to trash this as well and go back to my cable tv
Hey sada..kevin Ultra not really dead it still have of light in it...and btw you can't gtag any VS..
Afrian said sada sometimes the lights come on .so the sucker has some life in it i just don't know how to do the CPR on this little sucker.. and i don't think it dead when Afrian said it still have some light...try it out you have nothing to lose..
African...try different cable...it's important to switch unit off via back switch b4 starting the download process. start downlaoding..then turn unit on via switch...like hard boot

there are two problems with ur rec. first you said its sending signal so what i am getting its sending signals.. so if it does.. that means its not dead... if you are rec signals like 1...10% etc.. then there might be problem with your loader. extact the loader fully and use it from where you save it .no shortcuts, or check cable...
"Loader2" can download the firmware from PC to STB.
1. Install "Loader2" to your PC. 2. PLUG OUT YOUR STB FROM OUTLET. 3. Connect "NULL MODEM CABLE" between PC and STB. 4. Run "Loader2" on PC. 5. Run the "Tool->Configuration" menu and select serial port what you use.
6. Press "Open File" button and select the file what you want to download. 7. And then press "PC->STB" button. WHEN ZMODEM WINDOW IS APPEARING, PLUG IN YOUR STB.
8. Then selected file will download from PC to STB.
9. When download is complete, you can see below message. When you see this dialog on PC, STB will start to write flash memory. Please wait until STB automatically reboot.
the ultra fix is for the ultra showed '----' when turn on, if not, I doubt it still alive, there are some other saying try to switch on/off with the back switch several times might get it back, somehow, did not work on my xtreme, it showed different wierd thing on the panel on every try. I dunno about ultra, don't have one, but you can play with it.
african ur reciever is dead ok dead trash it... i had the same problem no1 could fix it n i mean no1 ...the receiver you have was a clone and you or ur friend loaded a fake file in it...trust me its dead

Guys, thank you all for helping me last night. as i have always said this is a hobby and you have to be persistent.it was a very simple fix, but i was frustrated. this morning i checked and it is not a clone,thanks Nalin for that link. what i did is opened the box,which someone had already done,because i saw nuts missing,anyway after spending about 1 hour with a magnifying glass,could not find anything,then i noticed the wires to the switch were a bit loose.got might pliers and squeezed them a bit and ,the little sucker works like a charm.
