RK,

What does the lack of suppost on Ariza receivers have to do with Ab's thread here about trying to get Euro bird1-astra 2a/2b/2d/ at 28.2E from out of the footprint of the satellite? I answer you that NOTHING

AB,

Here is some good info all about the footprint of that satellite. You can only receive a satellite if you are located in the footprint. I hope you find it helpful.

C/P from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurobird_1

Eurobird 1 is a Eutelsat operated satellite, used primarily for digital television. It is located at 28.5 degrees east in the Clarke Belt, just within the range of most satellite dishes pointed at SES Astras Astra 2A, 2B and 2D at 28.2°. It was launched in March 2001, and after a short period testing at 33° E, joined Eutelsat 2F4 at 28.5° E.

The satellite has three beams, one fixed, covering almost all of Europe as well as north-western Africa, although carrying only United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland targeted channels, and two steerable - the first, "S1", co-focused with the fixed beam but with a Europe-only footprint, and a second, "S2", aimed to central Europe. This beam features many transponders with low symbol rates, used for satellite news gathering.

Thank you ab and Jay
This is exactly the stuff I was after when I came to this forum

Let me tell you don't get fooled by footprint specs or claims
You can get almost anything that require over 10 degrees of elevation. It will require over 2 meter dish and linear LNBs super dish may not be big enough. A lot of trial and error.

The reward is there are thousands of channels
- Many many are clear (don't require keys or bins)
- Many in Videoguard which will be broken soon

I wish there are enough true hobbyests in this forum

King,

I wish I could afford more equipment. I am ready to get a BUD back up and start testing more than the few sat's my small 27" will receive. I am happy with the 650 channels we can get now but, their is still so much we are missing......

Jay
It is space exploration
I will do anything to get my hands on Eurpean broadcast. It is the challenge that the average Satellite expert can't do.

In NYC area here it is so cold. I'll wait to summer comes for serious exploration. What is the worst that can happen I'll get nothing. I know I'll come across something
