People sub to starchoice because canada does not allow real competition. If your home can't get cable (and let's assume you have zero knowledge about "FTA") then your choice is Bev or Starchoice. Both are crap! Nothing to do with the weather - subscribers have no choice really.

If DTV and DN were legally available in Canada, then Bev and SC would go out of business.

I've just never had DTV, DN or FTA because of the fact it's "somewhat" free... I've had them because Canadian cable and satellite is garbage... and I'll always make sure I have a way to get U.S. Satellite even long after hacking is gone... or until the commie CRTC is dis-banded, which I heard is not too long away!

A lot of articles were writen on why no one able to intercept DTV. Many expressing their own views with no hands on facts. I only read one or two but I won't comment on their views. I like to use electronics facts with hands on circuits.
The following is a fact but it is still my personal view:
No Manufacturer that makes generic decoders like to bother with equipment that receives only QPSK the current encoding modulation for DTV instead of MPEG-2 and AC3 the current industry standards for SD by all providers. But this doesn't mean they are safe forever may be for SD 4:3 standard broadcast. But for MPEG-4 HD is another ball game???
Any dish can point to their 110 or 119
But 2 primary things you must have
- Decoder that can decode QPSK
- Keys for their conditional access (DSS Videoguard)

No electronics code that can't be broken

I will have a nice post within few days you may want to stay tuned.

You may want to also read my post: "Constant change of keys."
