Topic says it all. I have a 3500sd, when the system searches for the channels it skips over them. Is there something I can do or is it impossible since I live in the south? I get a lot of locals but most are down here. Any help is appreciated, or any knowledge on the topic is also appreciated.

Some stations are conus - they get broadcasted to all/most of North America. Some stations are spot beamed - they get broadcasted to specific areas (e.g. Detroit) within a 100 mi. radius. Chances are that the local stations are spot beamed, so you're out of luck. But, if you really want to find out, check out lyngsat*com (replace * with a dot). This site lists all channels, and also says whether they are spot beamed or conus.
