Pansat 3500s will not turn on

Anyways I got my new pansat in the mail there last week hooked it all up read almost every post about how to set it and what to do. So on Friday when everything went for S#@# I was entering keys and doing this and that. Pretty much following instructions off here. Now I have a problem my pansat turns on I get the little green light but nothing else. Is there something a did? How can I fix it. Please help. Thank you! I just see the green light no output and response to anything, except power on/off. I tried several times to reload the bin wiht my laptop using the cable, but no luck. I am suspecting there is no fix, but I respect and believe in the experts of this board. Any help appreciated. Regards, Ven |

There was also what was called a 'jtagless' program at dsscentral*net. Now, it says it's for 2500 and 2700's but it's also there, not sure if you would want to try it or not. The only other option would be to jtag it. Both can be found here. |

I am using GTRom Loader version 3.4 and version 3.42. Is there a specific version that you recommend? One think that I observed, with ver 3.4 it does not display any error or will it timeout. But with version 3.42 after about 90 seconds or so the loader will give me a error telling me that it failed "Do you want to retry or igonre?" with buttons. But if it has the sd card slot and looks authentic then chances are no, it's not a clone. One of the newer bins did create some trouble for some 3500's. Go to one of the older bins and try that, the 145 I think worked well Sled. You'd have to manually enter the keys but that shouldn't be a problem, it's been posted a hundred times around here how to do it. |

I just uploaded X-85BL_060609_277_au_api_.bin file bc someone said that it works on their clone unit so i uploaded. After 100% unit turned off then turned back on but it's stuck with receiver's screen saying 'on' and it doesn't do anything or accepts anything. Tried to upload old bin that i had but unit just turns off and my laptop is saying couldn't upload. Any ideas? |

I would advise everyone to read a set up guide before flashing. But, since people have been having some problems, I have revised this to provide more detailed information. But this is not intended to be a substitute. 1. Make sure you use the proper serial cable for your receiver: Most Fortec and Pansat use a straight through cable with DB9 females on both ends. The Blackbird, Pansat 2700/3500 and some other receivers use null (crossover) cable, which crosses over pins 2 and 3. 2, With the power turned off, connect it to your computer and receiver using the serial connector. Use serial port #1 if you can. 3. If you do not have a working SERIAL port, you must install one or use a computer that has one. Usb ports do NOT usually work, except on rare ocassions with an adapter. 4. Use the appropriate loader. 5. Select the file. Make sure that it is the correct flash for your receiver. 6. Select the COM port your receiver is connected to. If you do not know, what it is try #1 first. 7. Enter the correct model name and number. Most Blackist updaters do Not require this. 8. Check off the correct function box. Your choices are boot, flash or channel list. To FLASH your receiver you would use FLASH. Most flashes do not require a separate boot; so do not load both separately. 9. Turn on the receiver power from the BACK switch. 10. As soon as you see the lights flash,very first light -- IMMEDIATELY press download. Timing is critical and many vary. 11. Wait until it COMPLETES and reboots. _________________ Pansat setup guide.. Press [menu] Select [SD Memory] Note: Receiver will automatically create 3 directories on the card: CH Data Backup Code Backup MP3 (For Virgin cards only -Take the card out at this point and load your unzipped bin or channel list file to the card in the appropriate directory. Now put the card back in and re-access via menu as stated above.) Select bin file in appropriate directory, main directory, [ch data backup] or [code backup] Press [OK] Select [data restore] Press [OK] to load, receiver will automatically load, confirm, then reboot. TO SAVE DATA Insert SD/MMC card into receiver. Press [menu] Select [SD Memory] Select an appropriate directory, main directory, [ch data backup] or [code backup] by using [up or down arrows] and [OK] Press RED button in left bottom corner of remote. Name your file on the alphanumeric screen file by scrolling via [arrows] to next character and then pressing [OK] for each character or [del] to correct a character. That should give you nightrider lights then load the factory bin then the latest bin. You don't need to jtag 95 percent of the time if you have any lights on the front. |

Last time I loaded the same new bin that everyone is using, and then hit "factory settings" on the main menu. Selected the Echo 7 and 8, ran the scan on both, got tv. Try it, however if you are not even getting the regular menu screen, this is not going work for you. |
