How reliable are bin files. Do they sometimes get so called zapped. If the autoroll is on can you still get zapped, or do the new bin files that come out just have bug fixes?
They are reliable as long as they last. They don't get zapped, they get tricked into not working/working effectively anymore, from a key perspective. New bins are created, sometimes for bug fixes, sometimes to add new features in the menu/EPG as we recently saw with the 147/148 for the Pansats. That bin added 8hrs of EPG programming. Bins are created for certain receivers, and if loaded into the wrong receiver can damage them.
Thanks for the response Tyler. One more thing. For the viewsat 2000 Xtreme I noticed the DBPSW_V1072_XTREME bin file and also the DBPSW_060510A_XTREME file. What is the difference between these two files and do they both get loaded to the receiver the same way?
there is the viewsat 2000 and the viewsat xtreme, 2 different models, with 2 different bins. the bins cannot be exchanged. only the chnnel lists are the same for each model.
