S-video vs. rca for data projector

I'm hooking up a dvd player to my data projector in my classrooom (teacher) via a about a 50' cord to show occasional dvd's projector onto an interactive whiteboard. Will using an s-video cable make a big difference over an rca cable? I only ask because I may hook up a vcr to show the occassional [old school] videotape - and the vcr only has an rca jack for video. Should I do both cables (would the s-video make a noticeable difference for dvds) or just go with one rca cable that I can unplug from the dvd and plug into the vcr when I need to watch a tape?

Thanks
