My Dish DP301 stopped working & I'd like to fix it myself if possible. (I work as a fulltime handyman.) There is no cable or broadcast TV where we live.
It started losing the satellites; then it would take forever to "reload" --- remote function was lost but the channels would change via the up/down manual buttons + the station id would appear briefly onscreen but no picture or sound.
Now there is nothing & the power light goes off after a few moments. I carefully cleaned it with expensive contact cleaner because the interior was filthy with dust, cat hair, etc. Checked the fuse. Nothing.
Is this a common problem? Are there any cheap culprit components I should replace? Somebody mentioned a "voltage regulator" problem in another Dish model... could it be that?
