Used Kenwood VR-507 I purchased this AV receiver used and have been able to get all of the components working properly (so far) except for the following:
When connected to the FM antenna and listening to music, the volume is very loud. Even when I reduce the volume to -99 dB, the music is too loud. I have minimized the sound as much as I can (pressing SOUND, set INPUT to minimum value). At this point I have just two front speakers connected to the system (large Merak 3 way speaker, 100 watts, 8 ohms); I tried another set of JVC floor speakers and they are too loud as well.
However, when I play a DVD, I am able to reduce the volume to a very low level, just as you might expect. Is there something that I might be doing wrong? Is the system designed to play loudly for FM reception or when just two speakers are attached? Any suggestions that you might have would be appreciated. Thanks.
