Noise in the right channel only of a Technics SL-B2.

I'm an audio conversion newcomer and I recently bought a Technics SL-B2 in a church rummage sale.

It seems in pretty good condition except this scratching noise in the right sound channel only. It matches the movement of the turnable while it's moving but it's heard even when the needle is up.

Any ideas what this might be?

You guys seem to know so much, I'd be grateful for your responses.

Where is the sound comming from? Through the speakers or from the turntable itself?

Thanks for the response. The noise is coming from the right speaker.

This is probably caused by a bad connection. Clean all contact surfaces from the cartridge pins to the phono input on the receiver and see what happens.
