I have a 15 year old hi-fi system and a large collection of cassette tapes that are slowly breaking and becoming unplayable.
I have no knowledge of Rams,Roms tweeters, woofers or any technical knowledge. I just want something to record my cassettes onto CD and also record radio programs onto cd or hard drive with as few complecations as possible, just like I used to record my vinyl records onto cassette.
Is there anyone who can give me advise on the best option to go for bearing in mind I am in Australia and must have equipment available here.

simply buy a CD Recorder...most will record from any source, including vinyl, tape and other CDs.

Depending on you budget, you might wanna look at the Pioneer 609. Excellent copies. Costs about US $ 500. There are several cheaper ones starting at about US $ 150.

You might also wanna consider Mini Disc Recorder. Cheap ones start at US $ 125.
