Impedance Matching Volume Controls

I am currently installing 3 volume controls in different rooms. I had a question on which impedance I should choose. I have 5 pairs of speakers going from my amp. Each volume control just controls ONE set of speakers (two sets are part of my 5.1 system - maybe this is only considered one set???). Anyway, when I count to choose which impedance setting to use do I only consider the number of speakers that each volume control controls (1) or do I look at the number of pairs the entire system is driving (5 or 4 depending on how you count the 5.1 system).?

Does this make sense? Please help.

You should choose the impedance you want the amplifier to see no matter how many speakers are connected at any one time. If this doesn't make sense, you should contact the dealer where you purchased the volume controls.
