Marantz sr 5500 to drive new speakers

Newbie question. My brother is willing to donate to me his Rotel 1066 6 channel amp. I was wondering if I can use the 1066 to drive the L, C, R channels (bridged), with the Marantz 5500 (or even a 4500) serving as the pre for those channels, yet powering the rear L+R on its own?

At the risk of repeating myself, what I am trying to do is make the Marantz work as a processor only for the front speakers, and as an integrated (processor and amp at the same time) for the surround speakers.

The speakers I have in mind are Paradigm Monitor 5 and a CC-370. I have not purchased those yet. The rears are Speakercraft in-ceiling (already in place).

Hope you can clarify this for me.

The answer is yes and oh would it sound good!

Enjoy the music and movies. Rotel and Marantz make great partners.

Arthur, would you use the 5500 or the 4500? Any qualms about using a 5400? Thanks for your comments.
