Old Polks VS New Polks

Anonymous
I have owned a pair of old Monitor 10Bs for over 12 years now and went to C City and bought a pair of RT1000i's. The new ones don't hold a candle to the old in sound quality! I have them hooked up to a Yamaha A/V DD receiver and have tried various
hook ups (sub outs to sub ins, straight wiring). Any suggestions. The bass and output are really lacking.

If you can find them give a listen to some newer Acoustic Research AR-9(originally 312 HO). They don't have powered subs, however they are bi-wireable. Another good bet would be some sort of Paradigm (original Legend Powered) or Paradigm Reference. Snells or Klipsch are also probably worth a listen..JBL S38 are PHENOMINAL for the money (300 from JANDR.com)but would ultimately need a sub.. Tsto.com has Phase Tech which are also very good for the money!!!!

I have had a pair of RT200P's for a couple
of years. They have good bass but not much else.

Try moving the speakers closer to the corners if you haven't already."i know thats basic advice"
Also try biwiring. That helped my Polks a little.

Sorry if i was not much help :~)
