If they sound great to you, then that's all that matters. From what I remember of Akai, didn't they make entry-level electronics and packaged fairly cheap speakers with their receivers? Maybe I'm remembering wrong?

Akai made hi-spec tape recorders in the seventies. Always wanted one.
Don't know about the speakers though.

I got hold of a pair of Hitachi speakers recently, which probably have a similar 'reputation' to Akai ones. They are much better than the Sony ones they replaced!
So Aiwa speakers might be quite good! Who knows?

In above message, delete Aiwa and insert Akai.
Why is there no 'amend your own post' option on this board?? :-)

Diablo, I had read the Aiwa as Akai myself. :-)

You might be right about the Akai speakers. I do remember Akai reel-to-reel gear... Maybe I'm confusing Akai with another brand concerning the speakers.
