Hi, I'm totally new to hifi seperates and bought two lots second hand from an auction, which I hope to put together to get the best combination possible. In total, I have B+W dm602 speakers; Mission 752 speakers; Arcam 8 and an Arcam 9 amp; Arcam 7 and an Arcam 8 CD; Yamaha natural sound AV amp DSP - A595A. The Yamaha can be used as a home cinema system, but I'm not interested in this - only like to listen not watch!

I wonder what you suggest to be the best set up with all this kit for one system. Is there any advantage in connecting the Yamaha A595A amp to the Arcam 9 amp (is this called pre-amping?). Or could I use the Arcam 8 and Arcam 9 amps with one as a pre-amp?

No one can tell you what pieces make the best system. You must decide that for yourself as we all have for ourselves. Read some of the archived threads on the forum and you will find your answers.
