Advice needed - US made receiver , use in India

I plan to buy an a/v receiver. Receivers here in India cost about 30%-40% more than they do in the US. But I do not know whether they will work in India because here we use the PAL system for TV as opposed to the NTSC system use in the US. But someone told me that this does not matter as the receiver does not do any processing of the videosignal, just passes it through. Is this true? (We of course use 220 v power as against 110v in the us, but I can easily get a converter for that).

Check out the AV receiver you are looking at and see if it will run both 110 and 220 ... some have a switch on the back to change it. Not sure on the video since some do video component upconversion...??? Good luck -Rick
