I would like to connect all of my video sources with S-Video, but most VCR doesn't have a S-Video input. The VCR with S-Video input is usually over $100 (which is too expensive for VCR!) I think that the receiver (H/K 230) doesn't convert composite to s-video input, so the sources have to be connected with all the same type. Am I correct? So, the only way to connect the VCR with my receiver is to buy the one with S-Video input?

No Paul, you can connect any VCR to an S-video input using a cheap "composite to S-Video adapter/converter". I paid less than C$10 for one last winter; it might have been under C$5.

You are looking for something like:

I've been looking at VCRs lately; looking to replace my old cheap one with a good one, S-Video is a requirement. JVC makes several with S-Video inputs and outputs--I actually haven't seen anyone else currently making VCRs with S-Video connections except JVC. You can get the lower-end models for under $100.
