M-Audio AV30 (or the AV40's if you can find them cheap enough).

They're studio monitors that sound fantastic with instrumental stuff. The bose mediamate aren't bad, either. But they can't put out the same level of bass and the stereo separation isn't as good. Plus the treble on the Bose seems accentuated.

i have bought m-audio av30 and it works wonders in my dormitory. i have played opera, piano sonata, symphony, rhapsody... all kinds of music. i like speakers that show the music just as it is originally and m-audio av30 is quite nice.
of course it is not perfect. the stereo separation is not clear enough though.
i am satisfied with this pair of speakers so far. my friends in the apartment like the music out of m-audio av30 as well.
thanks again, jexx! have nice weekends!
