I'd like to record from a Sanyo VCR to a Canon XM1 camcorder. Both of these are PAL and I have the proper connection for the VCR with an output switch that then goes into the camcorder with RCA plugs. I don't get a picture on the camcorder viewfinder and haven't been able to figure out how to record. Can anyone give me advice?
The specs I see for the XM1 show no video input other than Firewire. You can't connect your VCR to the camcorder. This is not unusual. Most camcorders only output video. They don't input video.
What you are doing is connecting VCR out to camcorder out. Ain't going to work no matter what you do.
I suggest you read the owner's manual when in doubt.
