Converting Computer Speakers to Home Theater

I received a new computer that came with Boston 7900 speakers (subwoofer and 5 surround speakers). I don't have a need for these speakers on my computer. I received a receiver/tuner for Xmas and would like to connect these speakers to it. The speakers have two wires ending in a single RCA plug and the receiver accepts banana or bare wire connections.

First, assuming I can get the connections to work, will these speakers work with the reciever? The speakers are 8 ohms and the receiver requires >6 ohms.

Also looking for help in how to convert the RCA to bare wire. I could cut the ends (rather not). If I did, how do I tell the + from - wires?

Is there something with a female RCA end that I could cut to get to bare wires? If so, again how do I tell + from -?
