Disclaimer: I'm a noob in this... No technical knowledge of HOW different ohms/impendence affects output... So take it easy on me..
Here's some background: I got quoted by stereo shop $2400 for ONE 13w7AE, 1000watt JL amp, custom built box (nothing fancy), Interstate MegaTron battery upgrade with 0 guage Stringer amp kit, and installation/labor.. I was being stupid and didn't clarify what kind of JL 1000 amp (was thinking it would be the big/long one)...
Then they called back and said that it would be more power/better to do TWO JL 500/1 amps wired for dual ohm??? They said it would be better (more power) than doing a single 1000/1 JL amp..
Pls advise: First: Is the first setup a good deal or not? Second: Should I do what they say (two 500/1 amps)? or are they trying to save money on me? Third: Should I just save up and get the 1200/1v3 or HD1200/1 ?? Fourth: What set up or changes would you recommend? My budget is $2400. (car is '16 Maxima).
