I had an older style rf t5002 running the comps in my tahoe. they are the re xxx 6 1/2s. they are 2 ohm. someone made me an offer on my t5002. i sold it to him. anyways, i have an older t8002. is it just to much power for them? i like a little head room but not 2 to 3 times rms? safe to do or get a new amp?

It should work fine as long as you don't clip the signal...

its safe if you set the power amount you need with a digital multimeter plus it will be clean power

No such thing as too much power. You can keep the gain down and not use it all, and the more you don't use the better
