Hello i just got myself an awesome kicker zx1000.1 amp for my alpine 15 inch type r. im ready too install it but im just wondering what type of amp wiring kit i should purchase? do i need to spend the big bucks and go for 0awg or will i be OK with something smaller. Please give me suggestions. also will i need more powerful battery and alternator????
if you're only powering the one KX1000.1, you'll need a minimum of 2 gauge wire for both power and ground, if your total used wire length (run for pos and neg) is a combined 14 feet or less. Above that, look at using 0 gauge. You'll be drawing 100 amps of current through those lines at full output.
you probably will need to upgrade the "big 3" along with the battery and alternator as well. Worry about that after it's installed. See if your lights dim, or voltage rails drop below 12VDC.
