I still have to mount the sub and wire it to the amp, doing a little research before I blow something up... Anyone know what the "Sub Sonic" switch on my kx1200.1 is for?

It filters out the high freq. from going to the sub or subs. you need it on.

Yeah, that is correct. that amp at 1ohm should be perfect for that q.

Pike, since this is a 15" I want that filter off... I think, I wanna wang on the lows.

Jay, Rhino liner - $102 after tax, kinda expensive, but I got lazy and didn't wanna carpet / put the liner on myself. Looks good but it doesn't cover up some of the flaws like I hoped it would, but that's my fault

Your sub sonic filter should be set at or just a tad below the box tuning. It is so it wont damage your sub. So it should be on and set it to whatever your tuning freq of the box is. You would want to turn it off if you had a sealed box.

There is no freq dial for the sub sonic filter. Hooked up, test drove, fantastic. Gain only 1/2 way up cuz I'm afraid of this amp. :-) I'm sure that will find it's way to 90% soon enough, I just don't wanna give it the full 1400+ rms that the amp can dish out. Pix coming soon.

^ you're not serious are you? the gain is meant to be set a certain way for a reason and after that it should not be messed with. if you put the gains up to 90% you will fry your sub and probably your amp.

By turning your subsonic filter on you are saving power on your amp by not powering your subs for frequencies that you can't hear as well as wear and tear.
Gain is not a bass volume control. It needs to bet set correctly and left alone.
That illustration was the correct way to wire your sub. Good luck

Nice lining. Looks rough. Anyone ever have/had any problems with air leakage around the rim due to the thick lining? Looks like it would hinder a tight seal. I know a rubber gasket fixes this but how many use one?

Just curious.

I remember reading 11hz is the human threshold. Let me go investigate.

Actually Paul, as long as it isn't to uneven around the sub area, it seals like a rubber @ss gasket! I brush mine on instead of roll, comes out smoother but protects all the same. Polo.

Good enough. It's just from the looks of it, it looks like there would be some kinda air gap.

The stuff looks similar to popcorn ceiling texture. That's why I asked.

I'll paint the inside of the port black when I have some time this weekend, lots of people told me not to get that part sprayed with the liner.

This pic was a little odd, it's not that uneven around the rim. The Q came with a gasket, I was a little worried about the seal not being that great as well but I tried shining a light at all kinds of angles and nothing was getting through so I think that's sufficient. It's hard as hell to get this stuff off once it's on, I tried, other wise there wouldn't be excess aroung the speaker hole.

I know I should set the gain with a test tone and DMM, and that it's not a volume control. But since I dont have a DMM and I wanted to hear something to make sure chauncey didn't rip me off (he didn't) I just set it at 1/2. 90% was an exageration.

Box is 3.4 cubes @ between 31hz and 30hz, I forgot the exact tuning, changed box dimentions a little from the original design.

Started to rain, pix tomorrow
