ok so i have 2 jl w6v2-d4s. i have a 2 channel amp (JBL GTO1201.1II). the subs are 4 ohms. i have 2 sets of speaker wire. I plug one in + and the other - to the amp and to the box. i do the same with the other set in the next channel. is this correct setup ?

What? So each is wired @ 8 ohms or 2 ohms?

Do any of these look like how the subs are wired?

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161

And if you say you have 2 wires coming out of the box, 1 wire to each amp terminal, then you must either have 2 ohm wiring or 8 ohm wiring. But you will not know unless you look at the subs, or use a dmm on one set of wires.

And if it is 2 ohm wiring, to each amp channel,
Then your feeding the amp 1 ohm.

Amplifier Type: Mono
RMS Power: 787W x 1 @ 4 Ohms
RMS Power: 1114W x 1 @ 2 Ohms
Not 1 ohm Stable.

The only way they could be wired at 4 ohms is if there was only 1 wire going to the amp, as in the JL link i posted.

running the two voice coils of each driver in series (+ to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +, etc.) will give you a total of a 4ohm load. however, that amp is only rated for 787wrms at a 4ohm load.. which isn't going to get those jls moving to full potential.

i can't find the specs on that amp for seperate channels (they all give the bridged power) but if you know them then look it up, because you can run each subwoofer on each channel in parallel (+ to +, - to -) and get a 2ohm load on each channel. however don't do this if you don't know if each channel is 2ohm stable.

here, this will help you out a lot:

"I can't find the specs on that amp for seperate channels (they all give the bridged power)"

Thats cause its a mono amp.

Amplifier Type: Mono
RMS Power: 787W x 1 @ 4 Ohms
RMS Power: 1114W x 1 @ 2 Ohms
Not 1 ohm Stable.
