Gain wire melted

my gain wire melted when i was cranking today. Is it because my wire is not long enough ( its about a foot 1/2)?

how is it melting anyway? do you not have the same size wire as your power (assuming its your grownd) is there paint between the wire and yoru car?

Everyone makes mistakes Gunther. Please explain further so we can help you from melting another wire and possibly causing a fire.

yes everyone does make mistake my bad i have done a WHOLE lot worse believe me how about when i first started in car audio i burnt up my 800 dollar amp that was a shot to the gut but i learned never to do what i did again

My guess is he ment 'ground'.

Make sure you have the proper size ground and you have a solid ground.

What amp do you have?
What size power/ground wires are you currently using?

I think he is talking about the "bass knob" or "gain attentuator" wire, but I could be wrong

were u using the same gauge power wire as ground? this happened to my friend and he melted the shi t out of his wire because he was using two different gauges for power and ground

be easy, i meant ground. my power wire is 4 gauge and the ground is 8 gauge. i guess i see my problem? Go with a 4 gauge ground?

yea bro alwys use the same gauge for power n ground wire...what amp r u running? how many watts? nething above 1000watts u might want to switch to 1/0 gauge wiring.

yea NEVER use a smaller ground than the power wire you can use a smaller power and bigger ground tho, but yea doesn't make sense to do that

RMS Power (1 ohm) Not Stable
2 JL 12W6V2 equals 1 ohm or 4 ohm.

Is it wired to 1 or 4 ohms Gunther? or maybe 10, 16?

I remember there being a JBL amp that I was looking at that, although it wasn't rated for it, would drive an ohm just fine.
