Friday, January 25, 2008 - 06:24 GMT Okay... Just got my zx1000.1 and RE SX12D4 in the mail today. I am going to build a ported box 2cuft @33Hz. I have a stock ranger extended cab. What electrical upgrades will I need, if any? WOuld a bigger alternator be better or a yellow top? Thanks....

Friday, January 25, 2008 - 07:22 GMT The Big 3 would be a good idea. Although some will tell you that you don't need that until you install a high output alternator, your battery can provide the current that the amp will draw on peaks, so you can minimize your voltage drop by upgrading the factory grounds and the alternator + to battery positive. A larger alternator would be better than a new battery.

Friday, January 25, 2008 - 17:19 GMT if you have the 130A alt you should be covered and then some. That's a good stock alt. My contour has one and at 1100w, no wiring upgrades, it's almost perfect (very slight dimming at high volume). The big 3 can't hurt, but I doubt you'll notice any difference - you might not even be able to measure it.

Friday, January 25, 2008 - 18:57 GMT " The big 3 can't hurt, but I doubt you'll notice any difference - you might not even be able to measure it. " Exactly. The stock wiring can handle the output of the stock alternator. The big 3 is needed for HO alts. I think your stock electrical will work with that amp.

Monday, January 28, 2008 - 01:40 GMT Well, I guess you do in fact need the HO alternator. 130 is not much more than stock......... an HO alt should be ~200 amps or so.

Monday, January 28, 2008 - 01:42 GMT The 130 amp may work, but depending on the vehicle installing the alternator can be a good deal of work, may as well do it right with the HO.

Wednesday, January 30, 2008 - 02:44 GMT maybe you can get it as an OEM replacement. Maybe your cheapest way to solve it
