Sub Melting??

This morning i weant to put something in my trunk and i noticed that one of thoose plastic cover things where my negative speaker wire weant into was melted sub and everything works i just don't want it to happen again and break it. Anyone know what is causing this? the little metal screw thing that your supposed to tighten down on the wire is broken out or the melted one could this be why? if so anyone know how i could fix that without having to send it in and be fixed... Any help would be great :-)

are you talking about the terminal cup on the speaker box or is your subs back exposed?

The temp. outside isn't a factor i live in utah and the last few weeks it's been snowing the hot sex with guys though could be a problem any suggestions?

Not quite sure the name of what is melted it's just where the speaker wire goes into on the amp... <_<

thieves he said on the amp so obviously you crossed terminals and melted the plastic due to the wire heating up from a short circuit.

Nothing right now it's just pushed in i noticed it when i was moving my amp that the screw was broken so i pushed the wire in until i could find something to hold it in their...

Maybe too small of speaker wire?

So the wire is just laying in the channel?, its not tightened down? What keith said possibly, or the wires are moving around, and making a weak connection and getting hot?

Well that's the problem, that wire has to be connected properly. Right now not all the strands are contacting which heats up the wire, pretty much.
