K well I was listening to my stereo in my winter beater and all of a sudden my speakers stopped working. I checked the amp and everything looked good, it was getting power, Ground is screwed into the chassis of my car (sanded down, no wires touching) fuse is fine, gains and dials have not changed and they have been set the same for like 7 months and my speakers crackle sometimes when I turn the player on and off...

I cannot figure out what it wrong with it. Could it be possible that my RCA's fell out or something up at my cd player? I was thinking that but I would have to go down and borrow some keys as my cd player is about 5 years old and I don't have the keys anymore.

thanks

Nope, I live in Canada and they were running in -30 degree weather, we had a bout of it for about a week. It's now maybe -1 sometimes and they don't want to work.

thanks for the help though, any more ideas? As I am stuck

as long as u can get another speaker to be powered...then ur fine

a friend of mine had the same problem....looked at all his speakers and found out that somehow the copper of the wire was touching the metal of the car

Use a DMM and measure your speaker wires. It should give you a resistance of 4ohms/2ohms etc based on your speakers. If you get 0ohms or nothing at all, then the wires are either loose or the speaker is blown.
Here's a quick test on your amp and speakers. Attach a short rca cable to your amp's input and touch the end with your finger. It should cause a hum or some kind of noise. If you hear that, then everything's good. If you hear nothing, then the speakers are blown or the amp's output could be shot. You just need to isolate the problem one at a time.
