Question About Clip Light

My amp hardly ever clips because I have my gains set to what I think is right. There are some songs that make it clip though, and sometimes I don't notice it because I can't see my amp from where I'm driving. I was wondering if I could take my amp apart and run wires from the diode to another l.e.d I can mount in my dash. This way, the light in my dash will tell me if my amp happens to be clipping and I don't have to check the amp.

^^ .. you could waste your time adding more wiring and an LED into your dash.. or you could just properly gain match you amp.. all you'll have is a nice clean signal and no more clipping

... unless your voltage drops insanely low for some reason and your amp can't draw the current it needs.. but besides that you'd be set :-)
