will a 180 amp alt. and an optima red top under the hood be enough for a 4k watts system?

Mathematically no, but it should hold since music is not a continuous tone.

no way lol, that cant be right... I know guys running 6k in their civics w/ multiple tvs and xbox's n it holds up just fine w/ a second battery. 200 amp alt. is the biggest they make for my car even w/ custom fab.

You will find that music will use lot less current than assumed. 200A will be fine. For the short peaks, the battery will handle.

Just make sure you don't burp your subs for too long.If you have one, keep a close eye on your voltmeter.

Andrew. What did the car come with stock for alt amperage?

What amp?

Why a redtop? Generally Kinetik's are cheaper and are much better for the money.

NOBODY is getting a TRUE 6kw out of a 200A alt. man....just doesn't happen9unless they are powering multiple batts in the trunk)...they prob set the gains to just underneath the lights dimming. lol

i agree music isn't a constant tone, but some Bass Mekanik and others draw a LOT of current from your alt....

Amps - RF T30001bd (subs)
T4004 (components)
Subs - (2) AQ HD312's
Car - 99' Honda Civic coupe
Stock 70 amp alt.
I might switch up the battery types...
It was 4k watts not 6k lol.

Also, I'm going for a street beater ,not going to use test tones for this system, If I compete it will be w/ daily music.

Will a 25 Farad cap work along w/ the 200 alt., and battery?

that is way too big of a cap too. lol
rule of thumb is 1F for every 1000wRMS.:-)

you would only need ~4F cap...5F is fine...
do you plan on competing???

if not, a H/o alt and 2 batts should be alright...

I wont compete as anything serious. Most of my competing will be at red lights and parking lots lol. I plan on using my bass knob from my amp at 1/3 daily... when I want to flex I'll do full blast. I hope I'm not changing out fuses every other day. RF recommends the 100 farad cap for systems 4k+ watt systems. But a cap will help me overall though?
