how much of a gain (dB) if any should i see if i invested in a line out converter.. my h/u has 4volt preouts now.. but if they were bumped to 8 my amp would not be starving to see the signal.. any recommendations to gain a quick and easy dB or two?

4v preouts is plenty...you usually get a clearer signal through RCA's anyways.

BTW...my preout is only 2.2V. (old prioneer DEHp6400)

what you need is the epicenter. you can make the preout voltage to 2.5v, 5v, 7.5v, and 10v.
