which would be louder, which would sound better, which would have more bass. Right now i have a kicker 15" and its loud so i was wondering if 2 12" would be louder then the 1 15". And is there a big difference in loudness
alright niceee, how would the kicker zx1000.1 amp power it cuz thats what i have for now. the amp is benched at about 1200 and i know the 2 12"s is 1500 so would that work out alright together
You shouldn't just say "2 12's, hands down." I dont agree. i have heard 2 new L7 12's, and i they werent the loudest, i would take the 15". And he has a 1000 watt amp as of now. 600 watts for 1 L7 12" is okay, i pushed mine with 400. But the 15" would be powered correctly. And in the right box, can out perform 2 12's.
I've had both setups and the 12's were alot louder, but yes you must power them properly and have them in a proper enclosure. The twelves will have more surface area than the 15 with the same xmax. The twelves can handle 1500 watts while the 15 can only handle 1000. I think that 12's sound way better than 15's. IMO the L7's sound like crap. Why do you want L7's? There are better subs.
^^^^ i have heard 2 new L7 12's^^^^ The L7's take about a month to break in and reach their full loudness. two 12's in the right enclosure with the proper power will out perform the equivelant 15.
if not. hwo much are you looking to spend on subs. i can find you something that is loud and had good SQ, and that will last you a lot longer than an L7 to boot.
ok, but 2 12's will be a lot more money than 1 15" of the same model. Also, the bigger the sub, the deeper the cone gets. You would know if you have seen many subs. Not all, but most. the deeper the cone, the more area. no offense steve, btu the equation you came up with would have a flat cone.
and with what muddy said, it is all up to the install. I was at a comp, 1 18" solo x did 146DB. Down the row i saw 2 12" alpine type s subs hit 150.4 DB. It had 4 aero ports out of a (guessing)1.5c ft box. it couldve been a snail shell.
alright so i guess its all up to the position of the box the type of the box and the type of amp, and yes im eventully gonna be getting the zx1500.1 amp for the 2 12"s cuz it would be a better match of course. So i was actully gonna put my zx1000.1 on ebay if anybody is interested. I was gonna try to sell it for at least like $360. thats includeing the shipping price so yes total of $360
