New member Username: Joball70Post Number: 1 Registered: Sep-06 | hi....i have a '92 ford thunderbird and am trying to put back the old factory radio and of course all the the wiring/harness was cut off by prev. owner.......right now am trying to reconnect the factory harness to the car's wiring.....speakers are done.......all that remains is a yellow/black wire, a green/black wire, the black ground, and a gray/red striped wire......when i connected the car's yellow/black wire to the harness yellow/black nothing happened....but when i connected the car's yellow wire to the harness's green/black wire an old tape ejected from radio.....i cant get any illumination on the radio either.....appreciate any help ....thanks | ||

Also my deck i a flip-top .... You have to connect safety wire from your new deck to parking brakes wire...it stays on a emerg.brake pedal(one wire)!f it dosn't help,then it something with head unit.(read the owner manual!) |

New member Username: MysubsatemytrunkPost Number: 1 Registered: Dec-06 | I realize there will probably be multiple things that can cause this but any help or suggestions would be great I have a 2001 grand am with premium sound package (monsoon/ however no factory amp) I recently for the second time put my Pioneer 6800 in and recieved no sound , i decided to just use my hi-level input for my amp and re-install my stock radio it worked fine for about 30seconds the just shut off (no fading no pop just switched off) since then I have not been able to power either radio and I have checked all my fuses and everything else in the car electrical is working fine what my assumption is a short somewere however i've never had this happen (**also the lights on my radio except the LCD are working**) any suggestions are greatly appreciated I cant drive with no music another day. | ||

New member Username: AstrosurferPost Number: 1 Registered: Feb-07 | i have a chevy malibu 2001 unable to locate this pink wire for antenna trigger...do not have a pink wire at all back there in dash....well i do but it goes to the hazard switch...so that cannot be it..i'd imagine this wire would be part of the plug which went into my original factory stereo. installed a sony F7715X stereo a while ago but have always had a fairly poor reception on fm...am i don't use...and the wife is aggravating me about it too... used a standard GM plug adapter for wiring and all wires used except for a purple, gray and blue i think...i know i got to connect my antenna power wire from the new sony...but this pink wire is not there...and i can't find a booster unless it's under my dash somewheres. any help on this would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance BILLY |

New member Username: SthrnrosePost Number: 1 Registered: Feb-07 | I have a 2002 grand am, The factory wiring harness has been cut, I am attempting to install the JVC headunit and, I believe I have the correct wiring guide for the factory wires, with that said, it still doesnt work, I will turn on, say "see you" and then shut off... I can eject and put in CD's but it will not hold power... I heard that other people had the same problem and their solution was simply that its the power lead/ACC. You have to run a wire from the fuse box using a fuse that only runs with the key in the ACC/on Position... Then reset the unit and it should be fine.... With that said, I have never had to do that, and dont have the SLIGHTEST idea where to start with that.... any suggestions, email me at christine.taylor@shaw.af.mil Thanks!! Chris |

A written list with the factory wire color and connection purpose would do. The factory wire colors don't match the new aftermarket unit's colors. The previous owner jacked the speaker wires up through a strange harness loop and I would like to install a new radio head unit direct to the factory wiring. Last install would crackle on bumps due to the jacked wiring and I'd rather have a direct splice. Thanks much. |

I've managed to figure out the speaker wires but I can't work out the others. they are: red, brown, yellow, blue/yellow, brown/white and fat brown. If anyone can help I'd be grateful |

The previous owner lived in a bad neighborhood so they car got broken into a couple of times and they stole the radio. I have about 10 cables of which I've already tried to find the speakers, at least two, so that I can make a direct connection to my mp3, so that at least I have some kind of music and radio. Could anyone help me decipher the cables? thanks | ||

I've tried to follow the12volt guide for my car but I guess because of the premium sound package its wires are a different color for speakers? Can anybody show me a diagram or something that will show me how to hook my new stereo up properly? |
