i just bought two 12" DVC 4-ohm MA subs. they're suppose to be 300-350w rms a piece. i hooked one up to my 200X2 amp. so i ran 200w to the one sub. i accidentally crossed my positive and negative connections inside the box. i wired them into a 2-ohm load. i played the speaker for 5 minutes and i smelled burnt rubber all through my car. blew that sub. so last night afterwards i realized what i did and i hooked up the other sub the right way. made sure of it. played that for 5 minutes, and that sub blew. what could be wrong?

could just simply crossing your negative and positive speaker wire blow a subwoofer that bad? and if i can, why did it blow when i fixed the problem?

Is the amp 2 ohm stable? If you cross the neg and pos most amps go into protection and won't play at all. Maybe you clipped your subs to death.

Are bridging the amp to 400x1? that would do it...

BTW, 2 4ohm dvc can only be wired into 4 or 1 ohm loads

i didn't bridge the amp. and i didn't hook both of the subs up together in parallel or anything. they were hooked up seperately to the amp. so each sub was playing at 2 ohm loads.
