Thats not a very good comparison. You should be comparing TWO Alpine Type R's to One Mofo. Because the amp you would need to power the Mofo would power 2 type R's. And in that case, there is no comparison, take the 2 type R's and don't look back!! And this is coming from someone who owns the MOFO (sitting in my garage, haha).
It is not really that the mofo is the worst sub ever made, its not. It actually even sounds decent. But for the amount of watts needed, you could run 2 of pretty much anything decent, and kill the mofo all day long. The REAL reason the mofo is a bad choice, is because of the power needed, could be better used on 2 subs taking half the power each.
