Hey, I just got a 311D MTX 2 Channel amp, hooking it up to a single DVC Rockford Punch sub in a bandpass box. I put both channels into the same inputs on the box, so i have 2 positive and 2 negative going into the same sub. Is that safe? Is that the best thing to do? Let me know what you think. Thanks

well, if you turned the amp on, you have a new door stop.

is the sub 4+4 ohm or 2+2 ohm DVC?

if the sub is 4+4 ohm DVC, the only way to run it with that amp (bad match) is putting one coil on each channel.
you won't be able to get full output from the amp with the load that single sub will present.
you may want to get a second matching sub.
then bridge coils on each sub in parallel, and put one sub on each channel of the stereo amp

New door stop? It works fine.... I have been working for a week+.... How do i find out if it's 2+2 or 4+4??? It's an older sub... I don't wanna spend anymore money, is there anyway i can just hook this one up a way that it wont hurt anything?

I thought you meant you ran both pos and both neg outputs of the amp to the same set of speaker terminals.
touching both together would short out the amp.

you're using one channel per coil on the sub.
that's all you're going to get out of that setup.
you should have gone with a mono amp for a single DVC sub

I have both the positive hooked into one positive in the box, the wires are touching...I don't know what's going on in the box. Same with negative. Sorry if i sound dumb...i don't know much about this....So does this mean im running 4 ohm or 2 ohm from output on my amp???

it means you're running it incorrectly and causing damage.

you should get a mono amp if the box only has one input
or get a stereo amp and bridge it to one channel if its a 4 ohm box

Why does the amp specs say like:

RCA Output
Low Pass Only
2 Ohm Load 200 w x 1
4 Ohm Load 100 w x 1
Dynamic Power 14.4 VDC
2 Ohm Load 310 w x 1
4 Ohm Load 155 w x 1

If it cant go to one channel??
