I'm sure they considered it. But then you would be faced with "dimple noise" associated with ID at high excursion. Besides, what the sub lacks in surface area, it makes up for in raw excursion. I forgot the actual number but it wasn't in mm. It was listed in inches:-)

Actually the photobucket picture is the NEW XXX. I have a brochure in my hands and that is what it shows, and why it is soooo heavy! It is also the reason they are going to be $660 for the 15". I can't wait for them to get here!! I wished someone would hurry the FVKK UPP before I die with anticipation, lol...Polo..

heres the prices for the XXX's shipped to Louisiana, it may vary a little for other places but only about 10 dollars at most.

XXX 12 $630 shipped
XXX 15 $670 shipped
XXX 18 $710 shipped

12's will be available Thurs March 16th, ready to ship.
15's will be about another 6 weeks before they are ready.
and 18 will be about another 9 weeks.

same goes for all the MX and SR subs, another 6-9 weeks before they will be available.

its 100w X 4 @ 2 ohms.

it was like 350 shipped to LA.

How about the MX??? IS it spl or sq or what???? I like the addition of the sr there was a pretty big gap there without it...although it doesn't benefit me...That new xxx is amazing...whenever i get my new car its gonna be a tough decision between that, a w7, and a mag :-(...oh well thats a long ways off.

I think that is the new MX sub, going by the new brochure but the magnet is a little different. this is the new XXX and shows the exact same thing in the Brochure, that is why the beast is sooo heavy. Polo.

The only problem I have with it is if its going to to be 76lbs, how are you supposed to mount it, especially sideways? Have any idea the amount of sideways force it would have on them screws not to mention the material would have to be at least 1 1/2" thick. Polo..

yeah nemen is right the top pic is not the MX, both pics are pics of the XXX the mx is smaller the first pic where the sub has a grey basket and is being compared to the previous XXX model is the prototype XXX before they renewed the look. the new XXX out for production and sale does not have the RE logo on the dust cap it has the XXX logo like the previous sub.
the pic that polo posted is the new XXX, the final product.

Nemen there is only two subs with those baskets, the XXX and the MX. I did mention it looked like the MX but the magnet was a little different. It is in no way the new XXX but maybe a proto of the mx without the neo's? Hard to tell unless it was laid on its side. I do know the second one is the new XXX, Polo.. :-)

i also liked the XXX with the grey basket and the RE logo instead of the XXX logo. but o well, it will still slam.

oh yeah and im gettin the 12, prolly ordering thurs or fri. i got my income tax return, just enuff for the sub and some change. :-)

anyone want to buy last years model XXX 12?? i have to sell mine to get an altenator.

300 for sub
400 for sub and box : 3 cuft net tuned to ruffly 30-32 hz demensions are 38 wide x 15 deep x 16 tall.
