i have a brahma 10 in a sealled box but i'm puting it in a vented one soon. i have it on a jbl 600.1 now but it has no subsonic filter!

the guy at the shop said the if i tune it low, like 28-30 hz i wont need one cause the sub will roll off plent fast. i just wanna make sure though.

that's a bit low for a ten. shoot for ~35Hz, and yes you want a subsonic filter for a ported box.
Audiocontrol crossovers have tehm built in..
the EQL may be a good choice.
retail is $189. street price should be under $150

don't need one for a sealed box
they block the sub from getting any frequencies below a certain point, like 16Hz.
trying to play that low with a ported box can damage the sub due to loss of damping. the sub over-extends and you have a nice doorstop.
