I have a 10" JLw7 in a ProWedge box from JL currently being powered by a 600watt Kenwood Amp bridged. It sounds decent but I have heard a quite a few w7's that hit 5x what mine is doing. A friend has a 1000watt Earthquake amp for $100 I was thinking about getting. Should I pick up this amp or save up a bit more and get a Phoenix Gold 800watt mono block? I listen to alot of rock and I want something with hella punch and the Kenwood is just not doing the sub justice at this time. Thanks in advance for the help

earthquake amps a know for raw power...but "dirty" power, they used to be big in SPL competitions.

the Phoenix gold will prolly be a better sounding amp.

by the way...that W7 has a 3ohm voice coil so you will prolly want an amp that will produce ~800w at 2ohms. (that way it will produce at lease 500w @ 3ohms)

you also have it in a sealed box...other people probably have custom boxes or the HO wedge (ported box)...that will make it louder if you like that type of sound...you want to just think about change your box.
