I just picked up a pioneer PRS-x720 pretty cheap. I don't know ALOT about car audio yet, but I'm building a system in my 99 grand prix to have great sound quality. I don't need to shake the block as much as I want awesome SQ.

How does this amp match up to other amps I can get (on ebay or whatever) for ~ $350 or less? Such as, the JL 500/1? Reviews suggest that this amp is actually pretty good.

I have no idea what sub(s) I will run yet, anyone have a suggestion for an awesome SQ sub?

Basically, if SQ is what I seek is the PRS-x720 for me, or should I resell it and buy something else?

Had to find much info on it
"Bridgeable, 2 x 100W 4 ohms or 2 x 200W 2 ohms or 1 x 400w Bridged 4 ohms."

don't know if thats max watts or wrms . I'd say use it for your door/rear dash speakers & buy a mono for your subs

For good SQ without shaking the block - look @ a pair of IDQ 12" subs or Infinity subs ....

From what I have found, they are very underrated. Supposed to push ~ 700-800 RMS x 1 when bridged. Should be plenty for a sub, I thought?

http://www.audioreview.com/cat/carreview/car-audio/amplifiers/pioneer/PRD_ 9703_1806crx.aspx was one site. I have heard a few others also. The unit comes with a certificate of testing by pioneer, which typically indicates ~ 700-800WRMS @ 4 ohms (when bridged) even though it is only claimed to be 400. Also, the 100 x 2 @ 4ohms is more like ~235WRMS x 2.

At any rate, assuming it is 700WRMS, can that effectively push one JL 10w7? Or one eclipse 10" titanium (SW9102)? Which will have better SQ? Are these subs good for SQ or only for SPL? Is 700WRMS too low for a 12" 10w7 or for a 12" eclipse titanium (SW9122)? I really like the eclipses because they look awesome and hit hard, but I don't know much about their SQ...

1 10w7 is rated @ 500wrms so if that amp really does that it'll be good

but i would search the specs back on Pioneer's archives 2 b sure .

JL is said to be 1 of the best subs currently available so i'd pesonally get 1 - only reason anybody bad talks em is only because of price .

Why JL w6 vs w7? Should I get 2 w6s? What wattage should I run to them?

How about a 12w7 or 2 12w6? How much power would they need?

well w6's are designed as a pure sq subwoofer... another bonus to them is they only need small enclosures.. 12w6's will run well off 400-500 watts each.. the 12w7 can be given 1000
