why don't you get an amplifier with a nice head unit, a decent amplifier would sound better than any head unit.

Don't you just love how simplistic all those head units look?

I love my CDA-7990, in spite of it's $3,000 price tag :-)

If you want a good, simple AM/FM/CD player, without any bling at all, find an older Alpine 7903 or 7905 pull-out.
elegant looks, so simple you can do everything without looking at it once, and the 7905 has burr-brown DACs standard. fantastic SQ.
should be fairly cheap these days on eBay. they haven't been made since the early 90s
