How Dim is Dim

If your headlights dim for a quick moment thats ok right? But if they dim and take like a whole second or two to regain full brightness does this mean you should probably consider upgrading your charging system

That's hard to define...I wouldn't say the interval would be as important as how badly it dims (though obviously if they took a few seconds to come back on you're in trouble...).

best if you check voltages.. you don't want to see any dips below 12VDC

Where should i check the voltage across? At the battery terminals, the alternator, or at the amp?

Should check at the Alternator and at the amp. To see how much teh alternator pushing out and how much the amp is getting.

Ima consider getting a bigger battery for my Civic. Any reccomendations?

at the amplifier or inside the car somewhere is sufficient.
you just want to see at or near the amp, how much voltage drops.

for the civic, optima, kinetik.. depends on your wallet.
