A "cap" is a capacitor wich is like a battery but can charge and uncharge very fast. Used for instant power to your amplifier.

If you dont upgrade your alternator the constant stress will cause premature failure.

Powermaster makes good alternators along with Stinger.

They dont make a 500 AMP alternator or at least I have never seen one. 325 is among the highest. wich can cost around 300 bucks

A capacitor is wired into your power wire before the amp. When your amp needs a large amount of power at once, your capacitor will discharge so the amp will get what it needs. It makes sure your voltage doesn't sag.
Although if you have a capable alt, you really shouldn't have to worry much about that anyway.
